When you're a monkey...

Monkey is one of McKay's many nicknames mostly because he's constantly jumping and climbing. Oh, and falling. That happens around 100 times a day. That's why when he was playing in the leaves at the park last weekend I didn't even think twice when he fell. I just sat there and thought, "Oh, he's fine!" Luckily for us, Sean was there and saw McKay fall, because he knew right away that McKay had broken his arm. I didn't believe him, picked up McKay, gave kisses, and told him to go play some more.

After 45 minutes our normally tough little man was still weepy over his arm and I started to believe Sean that something was wrong. We took McKay to Urgent Care, thinking they'd send us on to the hospital is anything was really wrong. It turned out that Urgent Care has their own x-ray room and we were able to get them done and have results in around 10 minutes. McKay has a buckle fracture just above his wrist and will be wearing a splint for the next few weeks.

Thankfully he was only in pain for a day or so and we've found that this splint hasn't slowed him down one bit.

The night of the accident. McKay was spoiled with Jamba Juice and Power Rangers.

Three days later finding out that he doesn't need a cast after all and can just keep using the splint. Awesome news, especially for bath time!!

A Photo Safari

What's that you say? You've never heard of a Photo Safari? That's because it's an awesome game that Sean made up the other day. So yesterday we didn't have plans until the evening and we were looking for something to do during the day (remember we're on Potato Harvest?), so Sean decided that we would get each our own memory card for our camera and that we could take all the pictures we wanted during the day.

The catch is that by the end of the day you can only pick one picture and then delete all the others. I had a hard time with that last part....delete? I'm kinda a picture hoarder. I have a hard time deleting any picture so that was the hardest part for me.

In the end I had to decided between his old red barn where I did a close up on some of the bent nails on the side (now that I'm describing it, it does't sound that cool) and this picture of McKay going down the slide. I think I made the right choice.

Sean took some really interesting pictures, too. He had this one where he was shooting up the trunk of a tree that had a great curve to it, and I really liked the lines in that one. The one he chose, though, was my favorite. It's of the tree in front of our apt right after the first frost in Rexburg. Love the icicles and the morning sun.

On a separate note I have to give a shout out to my parents on their 32nd anniversary today. We wish we able to celebrate with them (like last year!). Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!!

Baked Spaghetti Bread

Talk about a delicious, easy dinner. Seriously - I dare you NOT to make it. Here's what you need to make it...You know what? Instead of me giving you the recipe how about I just give you the link from where I found it. Yeah, that's easier for me. Click HERE for an easy-peasy yummy dinner.

Here's how Sean's turned out. Beautiful and wonderful.

I kinda ate three pieces...
In unrelated McKay news: I found this little trike on Facebook for $10 and my little man was in need of a bike. He seems to love it and I'm happy because it'll be easier for him to ride next spring.

Me Too, Mama!

Every time I walk into the kitchen McKay comes running after me saying "Me too, Mama!" because he's always starving. It's safe to say this kid is going through a growth spurt. He has been eating everything in sight. Here are some pictures I took after he had eaten apple sauce, a tortilla, macaroni and cheese, and here, peaches. Grow, Kayo, grow!!!!

"Big bite. Mama"

I just love how he crosses his legs when he's eating.

Labor Day Fun

We were so excited to have my parents come visit us this Labor Day. My parents (mainly my dad) has been coming to SLC around once a month since my grandma is sick, so we usually drive down to see them there. This time though, they came to us, which was a nice change! We had a really nice visit - here's a few pictures of when we went to feed the ducks at the park.

Such a sweet Bubbie

When we were leaving the park McKay fell and scraped up his knee. He was very brave though.

Back to the real world

Summer is officially over for the Edwards Family. Sad day! We had such a great summer and I really loved being to spend every day with my two favorite people...but I'm not going to lie - I do enjoy not having to watch the Spiderman cartoons from the early 80s. It's McKay's favorite show, and it got pretty old! Anyways while it feels really great to be getting back into a routine and schedule, I am exhausted from the first 5 days of school.

So the potty training isn't going so hot these days. McKay's stubborn side has kicked in and he's been really putting up a fight. It's a phase, right? Please say it'll be over soon (it's been around 3 weeks now!).

It's hard to get upset when he's so stinkin' cute - but yes, I do get upset when he refuses to go!

I found THIS great site that turns any picture into a coloring page for kids. Recognize these two? McKay has liked coloring in a picture of him and Milla.

Finally, I found THIS fantastic site! It's all about people who have tried out things they've found on Pinterest. Most are people who have failed (which makes me feel a whole lot better about myself!), but there are some who were able to make theirs work as well. If you are a Pinterest nut then you have to check it out!

Celebrate Youth

Forgive me if this post is brief, but today was the first day of school and I'm beat. Yesterday evening I took McKay to this gigantic back to school celebration put on by my schools district. It's a huge party that takes up an entire park, and it gets packed by  tons of Rexburg and Sugar City families. The best part is that it's totally FREE! So if you missed it, I would highly recommend going to it next year. McKay got some free books, a frisbee, popcorn, stickers, a backpack, and some other little things. We had a great time!

Playing in some bubbles

This was the highlight of the day for McKay. Not only did we get to ride in this Operation Lifesaver train (and cut in line that would've taken at least an hour!), but we got to sit in the front with the driver and RING THE BELL! He was on cloud nine the entire ride.

Here's the conductor car where we sat. McKay was super bummed when it was over.

Check out my awesome banner for my classroom / our grade hallway. I LOVE it!!

Cute twist on the traditional first day picture.
